Witchcraft and Weirdness with Heather Graham

So people are pointing out how stupid this girl is and how weird she is being... but in her I hear echos of my own teenage experiments and I'm thinking, "oh she's just discovering witchcraft and she's excited" and we didn't make fools of ourselves because we weren't in the public eye.

That being said... Isn't she a little old for that? The giddiness I mean. And doesn't she have handlers to tell her to put the brakes on before she makes a fool of herself? Anyway. I think it's cute. Is that patronizing? Disrespectful? Yea. Maybe, but I still think it's cute.

What blows my mind is that when asked how she felt about the breastfeeding scene in the this clip she replies that she thought it was weird but she likes raunchy humor so it was okay.

Breastfeeding = raunchy humor? What is raunchy or humorous about breastfeeding exactly? Okay, the discomfort of the guys in the scene was kind of funny, but raunchy? I don't get it.

She's just out to offend, shock or annoy everyone huh? Or maybe she really is that stupid. I find it hard to believe that anyone could be, but I guess if I can believe in magic I can believe in stupid people.

I didn't like it at all. She isn't knowledgeable or articulate enough to represent true Witches. She's the reason people think we're a joke. Doesn't she realize this guy is making fun of her?

That's the point. She isn't a True Witch (is that trademarked?) and she doesn't represent True Witches anymore than she represents Real Women. She is a parody. A living, breathing parody.

And yea, I'd make fun of her too.

The reality is that there ARE Witches out there just like her. I know, I've met them- newcomers mostly; my teenage daughter has brought me a few. ("Oh my, you're a train wreck. Let me take you home to my mother. She'll fix you up.") They usually grow out of it and don't cause any lasting harm because nobody pays attention to them. Who are we to say that what she's doing isn't a valid path, or the start of one? Everyone starts somewhere. She's obviously not articulate enough to give a clear picture of what she's doing and perhaps not bright enough to understand what she's doing, but we don't know the other people in her Circle, maybe they do? Besides, since when do we discriminate against the stupid? I see some degree of stupid at every gathering I go to and I'm expected to be polite. (Although it is true that this sort of vapidity at a Pagan gathering would probably lead most of the attendees to congregate at the other side of the room.)

What we have here is a Fluffy Bunny. She's like The Queen of Fluffy Bunnies. You may be disgusted, but it triggers all my Momwitch instincts. She's so cute, I just want to crush her to my breast and then look at her sternly and say "Bunnygirl, you listen hea'!"

Yea, she seems fluffy. Yea, the guy seems to be picking on her. Honestly - isn't the religion about acceptance? She is positive and upbeat about everything. She is not bashing or so flaky out there that nothing can be taken seriously. She seems practical about things. If you think about it - How else wouldt it seem talking about things in such a public fashion? It isn't all about being staunch and serious anyhow. How many times have any of us that read this have sounded just like her ourselves?
I like the idea of any positive plug to Witchcraft and she is wonderfully positive. We can't all be Raymond Buckland or let Buckland-like figures be our strict representatives. It's as unrealistic as saying she is the representation for us all.
I like it. Wouldn't change a thing.

I dont think 'fluffy-bunny' quite fits here...she isn't even at the fluffy-bunny stage as strange as that might sound. I dont necessarily think she is harming anyone, but her own career. I think Kimel knows alot more than he is letting on..after all... he seems to know the right questions to ask her to get her to incriminate herself further doesn't he.

But i agree, many of us have been put on the spot by the 'muggles' and have probably ended up sounding pretty misinformed and dumb if we tried to explain our spirituality in mundane terms the world could understand. I almost hope that our religion never becomes mainstream...or trendy...but i could see what they would do to it if it became the latest fad. Not good.
